Vocation Chalice Ministry

The purpose of the Vocation Chalice Ministry is to help us focus and encouarge prayer for vocations and to have the courage to listen and respond to God's calling. The chalice used at Mass is recognized by Catholics as a powerful symbol of the priesthood and the Eucharist. This Chalice is offered to help serve as a visible reminder of our commitment to pray together as a family, couple, or single person for vocations in the home for one month.

How do I pray for vocations?

• Prepare a special place in your home for the Vocation Chalice. It should be in a prominent place to help remind you to pray for vocations.
• Set a time: We suggest that  you (and your family) dedicate a certain time each day to spend a few minutes pray for vocations.
• Pray: The booklet sent home with the chalice includes many examples of vocation prayers for you to use.
• Read a Bible passage:  Either from the daily readings or you may choose to read through one of the Gospels during this month.
• Reflect:  Spend a few minutes discussing (or reflecting) on the priesthood, the diaconate and religious life.

Each month the Vocation Chalices will be presented to the families who have volunteered to spend a month in prayer for vocations.
